Strategic documents

The University of Manchester was the first and most eminent of the civic universities, furthering the frontiers of knowledge through research and teaching, but also contributing to the wellbeing of its region and society more widely. These aims have guided the institution ever since and continue to drive our strategic vision.

Research strategy

In May 2011 the University published a research strategy outlining how we will continue to achieve high-quality research that benefits society as a whole.

Teaching, Learning and Student Experience Vision

We published our vision for teaching, learning and the student experience in 2016. It sets out our plans to provide a superb and distinctive higher education and learning experience for every student.

Campus Masterplan

We published our Campus Masterplan in 2012, describing our plans to invest £1 billion over ten years to create a world-class campus for our staff and students.

Erasmus policy

We have a strong international profile with 25% of our students and academic staff coming from outside the UK, 25% of our research publications being co-authored with non-UK collaborators, and an alumni community of more than 265,000 around the globe.

We will build on this success and ensure that internationalisation is further embedded in our approach to research, teaching, the student experience, business engagement and social responsibility.
